Congratulations NH State Champions

In a close game yesterday at SNHU Arena Hanover took the victory 2-1. Trailing 1-0 going into the third, Hanover came out strong outshooting ORP 10-1. With about 5 minutes left a D to D pass, led to a slap shot with a beautiful goalie screen that went right through to the back of the net. This tied the game 1-1 and had the team and fans going crazy. With 46 seconds left an awesome rebound top shelf shot from out front was the championship game winner. Congratulations Hanover on a wonderful end to an awesome season!!

We look forward to celebrating this team and coaches on March 21st at Pierce’s Inn at the end of year banquet. More details to follow.

Off to the ‘Ship

Let’s go Hanover🥅🏒🎉

‘Twas the Night Before the Championship

‘Twas the night before the Championship,
The team had a chat
About what it would take,
To defeat the Oyster River Portsmouth Clipper Cats

Coach Dodds said to the girls…

The Clipper Cats are strong
They have earned state acclaim
So it will take all that we have
To win our last game

Time to “Do Simple Best”
the way we’ve done the whole year
Tomorrow will be a test
We need to kick-it into gear

We’ve had 19 league battles
With six tough ones out of state,
We stayed undefeated in NH
It’s an important team trait.

So WE must play strong team D,
And backcheck like crazy,
Work hard every shift,
And never be lazy.

But most important of all,
Play with passion and skill,
Make every shift count,
Exert your strong will.

So Coach Dodds called a break,
To tell them “The Story.”

Be focused and smart,
And never give up,
If you want victory tomorrow,
And a Championship Cup.

Do Simple Best Is the theme this year,
It will be our guide for the game,
And give us the strength
As we honor our name.

This family is ready,
To be at our best,
To add to the legacy,
With its own mark of success.

Now BRAGA, now FENG, now EDSON and GARDNER!

On LINDSAY, On KAUFFMAN, On MASLAND, On LAWE!

Now WILKINSON, now ROCKMORE,

To the ‘Ship SEELIG, BRADLEY, and LEE!

Finally the team’s hallowed stick banging cheer,
Rhythm mounting and steady,
Onward! To the ‘Ship Hanover
YES YOU ARE READY!

Senior Spotlight Maeve Lee

                Maeve Lee #4

Off ice hobbies: lacrosse, hiking, braiding my hair and hanging out with my dogs

Fun Fact: I lifeguard for Tucker

Favorite HHS hockey memory: Winning the State Championship my sophomore year, and playing with my sister in the alumni games.

What I will miss most about HHS hockey: My teammates and best friends, the coaches, the team culture, the fun, everything.

What coaches have to say:

Cheerful, hard working, passionate and positive all describe #4. She has been a wonderful Captain, leading by example on and off the ice. She has terrific hockey sense, reads the ice well – moving the puck to open teammates, changing the point of attack, forcing opponents to make mistakes and raising the level of play of those around her.

Maeve plays the game hard at both ends of the ice. As a center, she plays an important role in our D Zone coverage and has improved in this role each year. There are not many goals scored against Hanover when Maeve is on the ice.

Opponents would agree that Maeve has a more noticeable presence in the offensive zone. Especially on the scoresheet. She is a gifted puck handler with high level skating and shooting skills. She plays with composure and is a relentless competitor who finds ways to be involved with an impressive amount of Hanover goals. Middlebury would be wise to give her a shot next winter!

**************************************************************************************************************

Maeve is a kind-hearted, sweet, humble person but a fierce competitor on the ice! She is a smooth skater with quick hands and always finds a way to put the puck in the net. She has a way of bringing up the level of play of her teammates and always brings positive energy/leadership to the locker room :)

Even though I’ve only known Maeve for a few years, it’s felt like forever. Whenever I’m with her she’s always smiling and has the best attitude. She is such an amazing friend, teammate, and most of all, a great captain. Her on ice skills are so strong and I am always inspired by her when she’s on the ice. Maeve, I wish you the best at Middlebury and I know good things will come your way!! Love you tons.

Maeve is an absolute speed demon who makes playing hockey so fun for everyone on the ice. Maeve brings the energy of the team up not just through cheering and pre period speeches, but through her actions on the ice. I’m so glad I got to spend as many years as I did with her because she has made me realize what a true team player means. Thank you for being such a great leader!

Maeve is an amazing athlete and person and I have never met someone that had anything negative to say about her. She is kind to everyone and very welcoming and supportive. She is also an incredibly talented athlete who manages to both have individual success and lift up the team as a whole.
