Tuesday’s postponed home game against the Blue Hawks was rescheduled for this Friday evening.
8-0 Win. The Hanover girls preserved their hold on sole possession of first place with a shutout victory at Campion tonight. The Blue Hawks skated hard throughout the game, and as usual, goaltender Jen Auty was solid, facing with her fellow goaltender, a barrage of 41 Hanover shots…but Exeter just could not fend off the Marauders’ firepower. The scoring was distributed among all three lines, including 2 each by Tessa and Laura, and single tallies by Kate P, Maddie, Leah and Hanna Kornfeld (her first varsity goal.) Kelly Gaudet played the entire game in goal. Hanover was 1 for 3 on the power play, while perfect in killing 2 minor penalties. The Marauder girls next make the long trip to Berlin on Tuesday to face the always tough, Lady Mountaineers at Notre Dame Arena.
Elsewhere tonight, Bishop Guertin avenged their earlier loss to Oyster River with a 4-2 win, while Concord blanked Souhegan 4-0.
Although most teams have only 2 or 3 games left in the final two weeks of the regular season, so many of those games are crucial head-to-head match-ups, that it is impossible to predict the tournament seedings yet.
Although Saturday’s victory over STD was important, the Hanover girls will need to stay focused for each of their remaining three games, beginning with Exeter at home on Tuesday (weather permitting.) While winning out could isolate the first place Marauders from the standings feeding frenzy (for 2nd through 6th place ) over the final two weeks of the regular season, more important will be to keep improving…daily and with each game… peaking for playoffs in March.

From Coach Dodds: “We plan on having practice today. It will be the start of our
‘Canada-US competition’ which includes skills competitions, games and
conditioning competitions. Bring both white and red practice jerseys so we can divide up into two teams.”
