Spaulding, Saturday Dec. 10th @ 3:45 PM at Barre, VT

Hanover opened their 2011-12 season with a road-game at the B.O.R. Arena in Barre, the first of a home-and-away pair of non-NHIAA games with the Crimson Tide.  (Last season’s only defeat came at the hands of Vermont’s regular season #1 Spaulding High School, in our home opener at Campion.  Although the Marauders subsequently earned a re-match tie at the B.O.R. in Barre, this was the only team that they played last season without notching a victory.)

After a back-and-forth duel with a fast, physical and skilled Barre team… in which the Marauders trailed by a goal, then led by one twice… a 3-3 tie was broken in the last minute by Madison Hill, who deked the goaltender 1 v 1 with 13 seconds left in the game for the winning score.  Maddie Dewhirst had two goals and Tessa Hill one.  Kelly Gaudet (20 saves/23 shots; 0.87) earned the complete game victory in goal.

4-3 win.

The Marauders begin their NHIAA schedule on Tuesday, at home against Leb.
