Spaulding High School, Saturday Dec. 11th @ 7:20 at Campion

The Marauders’ first game of the 2010-11 season was an interstate contest at home Saturday evening,  against Barre’s Spaulding High School.  The #1 seed Crimson Tide was runner-up (losing to #3 BFA St. Albans) in Vermont Girls’ D1 last season. (link to CSN full game video)

0-4 loss  After a scoreless first period, with neither team able to convert some good chances, Spaulding took advantage of one too many odd-man rushes and scored the only goal they would need late in the second.  In the third, turnovers from blind passes plagued the Marauders, resulting in three more scores.  Barre’s physical style of play afforded Hanover numerous, yet unsuccessful opportunities on the power play…including a lengthy 5 on 3.  Emily Eickhoff saved 11 of 15 shots on goal, while the Spaulding goalie steered away all 18 Hanover shots.

Hanover will have three more games before Christmas break, beginning NHIAA play next Tuesday, “away” against Leb.
