re: souhegan, saturday feb. 28th @ 2:30 PM at Cyclones Arena

MAROONED! Miscommunication between the AD’s office and the bus company seemingly left the team at HHS this morning with no school transportation to Hudson.  Worse yet, after traveling to Cyclones Arena in cars, they discovered that Souhegan had the game scheduled for 12:30!  The outcome of this remains uncertain (? forfeit vs. re-schedule)… but incredibly, could have playoff implications, as tomorrow is the NHIAA’s “Last date to play.”  While it may have turned out to be the ideal outcome on the scoreboard for them, we owe Souhegan an apology for spoiling their Senior Day celebration.

Check back for update.

Update 2130: We still don’t know the resolution of our missed game yet, but here’s the latest…

#2 Leb shut out BG tonight, eliminating them from the playoffs and allowing #6 Berlin to hack away at #3 Oyster River in the first round. (The one and two seeds earn byes to the semis in the six team girls’ playoff field.)

Concord blew out STD tonight in Concord, to secure first place and keep STD in fifth….regardless of the outcome of our administrative snafu.  As fourth, we will play STD at home in the first (quarter-final) round (next Sunday, 3/8)…whether our final record is 11-5 or 10-6 with a forfeit.  (Hopefully we have ice scheduled for our game.)

Update, Monday  1610: The Girls’ D1 Playoff draw is posted on the NHIAA Tournament Info Page.  No surprises.  We forfeited the Souhegan game (our AD office’s error, not theirs) with, very fortunately for the Team, nothing more consequential  than embarrassment for Hanover High.
